Greetings folks! I'm Curzon Dax. I'm not going to spend three paragraphs explaining who I am; a little research or any community involvement in the last 5 years will probably have seen my name on your screen, or in your ears. I'm no longer in the trillionaire range; when I left Eve in 2007, I let my investments be kept, and wished everyone the best of luck, and signed off. I missed making parodies and returned to generate more laughs. Having done so, my interest is waning again, and this time, I intend not to return.
Before I go, I'd like to get a Paladin and a Golem, and officer-pimp them both, which is what this IPO is about. I have approximately 150-200 billion in assets, mostly in officer fittings and ridiculously expensive ships. If anyone remembers the Eve PvP Championship fights and the 50 billion ISK battleships I was flying around to stack my odds of winning, I still have all my fancy toys, just not the capital.
Plan
This is basically a CD opportunity, with 200% interest. I'd like to set a definitive date in the 6 months to 1 year range. I haven't gone shopping yet, but I expect need about 50 billion ISK to fit what I want, which I'll raise through this IPO. On a date NO LATER THAN one year (probably significantly sooner), Entity (yes, the collector) has agreed to take receipt of my character and all of its assets and pay out the IPO on my behalf from my assets. In other words, instead of selling all my rare and shiny stuff to random people, Entity gets to "buy" it all from the IPO shareholders, and make a very tidy profit while he's at it, and add to his collection of priceless stuff.
Profit wise, if I take a *VERY* conservative estimate of the value of all my loot, we're looking at 150 billion ISK in assets. I would despise having to sell shiny stuff to buy other shiny stuff which is why I'm making this IPO. Your ISK isn't going to generate more ISK; the value of the payout already exists, so business can't turn bad. I'm not sure what Curzon Dax as a character is worth (70m SP, +5 set, Halo set, Slave set, etc), but between the 50 billion ISK margin between the 200% RoI and the value of my character, Entity will be paid very well for his services.
TLDR
I'd like to acquire 50,000,000,000 ISK total, which will pay out 100,000,000,000 in dividends no later than one year after the CD being filled; Entity will be taking control of my character and assets to distribute payment from my character so that he can keep my rare stuff for himself.
I've done a lot of original stuff in Eve, from creating the Eve Fights, to starting Eve Online Hold'Em (Now EOHPoker owned by Selene), to founding the idea of providing highsec POS anchoring services. This is my last endeavor in Eve before I leave for good, and there's an opportunity for folks who care about ISK to make a profit from it.
Thanks for reading, and I'll answer questions as I can.

Edited by: Curzon Dax on 15/09/2009 23:47:13 I'm not done making parodies yet, and I have your song in line after my parody "Evil Pirate" which is a parody of "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al.
Turn the music on and sing this instead:
They see me ganking a carebear I know they're all thinking I'm an evil pirate Think I'm just an evil pirate Think I'm just an evil pirate Can't you see I'm an evil pirate Look at me I'm an evil pirate. I wanna roll with The carebears But so far they all think I'm an evil pirate Think I'm just an evil pirate Think I'm just an evil pirate I'm just an evil pirate Really just an evil pirate
*EDIT* The song chronicles this evil pirate who wants to hang out with carebears, and mine with them, and mission run with them, but everyone is afraid to do so because....they're a pirate. =p -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

I should clarify (due to a question in game) that the total payout will be 150,000,000,000 ISK; the initial 50 billion ISK in addition to 100 billion ISK in dividends. That's the 200% interest. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Entity is the 3rd party executor here, but please keep in mind that he is not financially liable for my IPO. On the flip side, I don't imagine that he'd take all my stuff when I leave and scam everyone...he's too much a central part of Eve's history.
Chribba, if you read this...sorry man, haven't seen you online for a week or two, or I would have asked you first.
But yeah; there's plenty of margin here, and I'd like to think there's more than enough people who know me and what I've got to fill up the 50 billion in short order. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

You have until the CD fills to be involved. In the opening hours of my IPO, 25% of the available funds have been snatched up, I don't honestly expect this to last very long. I'm not asking for mega-bucks, and half of Eve knows I'm good for the cash - the other half I don't care about. =p
In response to your question about incremental payouts, CD is the best description I can give to it. There will not be incremental payouts, there will be a lump sum 300% return on your investment at the termination of this IPO.
I honestly don't expect to still be here in a year - my wife (Dodiez) thinks that we should give up MMOs when we move into our new house (just bought a new house) this weekend and stick to playing console games / tabletop warhammer. I tend to agree, but would like to stay off execution of being involved in an online community until I've had a chance to get my last couple of shiny things.
However, for the sake of posterity, I've attached a 1 year deadline (little less) for return on investment. I'm not sure how incremental stuff and banking things go, but when I do 300% divided by 12, I end up with 25%, which means folks will earn 25% interest on their funds for 12 months, then get paid. Even if its 200%, that's still 16.6% interest per month for 12 months. Either way, its a better investment than I ever invested in while I was accumulating wealth.
And not to beat a dead horse, but at the end of it all, I will either do a character transfer with all my stuff to Entity, or (given his preference) I will contract all my stuff to him, and find someone else to take control of Curzon and use him / sell him. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

However, I don't think your numbers fit this occasion because this isn't a stock. While I respect your concerns, I am who I am. I don't plan on having an audit (or even really know what one is?), but I think that there's far more than enough people in Eve who know who I am and what I have (and have wished for a long time they had some of it) that this IPO will fill out in short order.
Its 1/4 filled after a couple hours, and Entity will be along in a minute to make a post which is what other folks were looking for. I'm not worried about raising the capital - I don't really expect there to be any investment opportunity still available by tomorrow or the day after.

Greetings and good morning!
To address a few concerns....
1. I am the original Curzon. You need only click the link in my bio, and listen to one of the new parodies in my thread that I've put out since I've returned to Eve to realize that. The voice you'll hear is the same one that made the parodies in the same through over the last several years. In fact, for anyone who mentioned this problem, I can safely guess at this point that since such a simple verifying step eluded you, you must not know who I am. I encourage you to click the link in my bio and listen to some of my music. Hours of entertainment await you, I promise.
2. In regard to the concern that I don't have a business plan....business plans are for people who need to earn ISK to make payments. As I explained earlier, this is not my intent. The only ISK that your money is going to generate is from a few missions. I don't NEED a business plan. If I were to liquidate my assets today, I could cover my 150,000,000,000 payout. As someone else pointed out the obvious, the whole reason for this IPO is that selling rare and precious things sucks.
"Man, I'd really like to officer fit a Paladin! Who wants to buy my officer fit Guardian-Vexor? Who wants to pay me at least as much as I paid for this officer fit Vindicator? Oh oh! Lets liquidate my carrier tanking Dominix. I'd rather see Entity have these treasures that I've spent years and tears putting together; he'll appreciate them and I'll know that my pets are taken care of when I'm gone.
3. In regard to people contacting me in real life: I'm a businessman, my cell phone number is on my business card, which I give to strangers every single day. I'm free with both my e-mail and my phone number.
4. In regard to me walking away with 50 billion ISK: All I can really say is, "lol, really?" Trading my reputation for 50 billion ISK? Amongst other things, I've founded a trillion ISK per year business, which I built, nutured, and when I left Eve the first time, sold to Selene to take care of in my absence. I've funded alliance expansions into 0.0, Titan projects, been 3rd party for massive exchanges (although I don't advertise)....
And probably most relevant, if you've ever listened to Eve Radio, or passed through DCMI, or been in the OOP forums, I donate and give away billions, tens of billions of ISK for contests, events, fundraisers, and most importantly, helping new players get on their feet in Eve.
Like I said originally, I'm not going to build a resume of myself to try establishing credibility - all you need to is look around an do some research.
And finally, I'm running out the door to take my wife to work then headed to our new house to get utilities turned on, but I'll sort out new payments when I get home tonight. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

I'm halfway done with my parody of White and Nerdy My lyrics still need some fine-tuning and Dodiez thinks that they all need to rhyme, while I was going for an Eminem like "story." Here's the lyrics so far...

I wanna roll with The carebears But so far they all think I'm an evil pirate Think I'm just an evil pirate Think I'm just an evil pirate I'm just an evil pirate Really just an evil pirate
(30 seconds); every thing is 8 beats
Lets team up and go mission run Don't worry about my security status It was an accident from a 1 on 1 Just kill some rats its so much fun
And the bounty on my head it was just a joke from a rich friend leaving when I had to revoke his corp roles he's trying to avoid these jerks who wardecced us, you know how that works
Don't worry about that warning that I'm at war Its a wardec from a scammer in a one man corp No way its my alt and you can just ignore That ship warping in,lets just mission *****
After that, I've been thinking about that "Banker Went Down to Jita" parody. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Sort of.
I already have most of my dream ships. I'll never get a Federate Issue Megathron - back when I was rich, I offered Entity 400 billion for it, and he told me to sit on it and rotate.
This IPO is so that I can get my last dream ships (Golem and Paladin) although folks are telling me I need to do a nightmare instead of a Golem. I'll have to look into it.
Yes, I hand over my character to a 3rd party (Entity). I chose him because I believe he's the richest player in Eve, and least likely to scam someone, and would also appreciate my collection. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Edited by: Curzon Dax on 16/09/2009 18:27:20 Hey folks! Just made an update.
I've got 34.6 billion ISK filled, leaving 15.4 billion left to be invested. I also just realized that I've got another 20-3 billion worth of assets on my second account, which hasn't been activated in quite some time; I petitioned to get it active for a day so I can buy a plex, then I'm going to liquidate the main character there for ISK.
I haven't talked to Dodiez yet, but we both have two accounts; her second account is a freighter pilot, and I'll find out if she wants to sell her stuff off too.
*EDIT* I believe that sellers have to pay transfer fees, and I guess I can't just sign over an account to someone? Even with a petition? Anyone know more about that? If someone was interested in specifically obtaining either a freighter pilot or a wtfbbq awesome Command ship pilot (with 12 million SP in leadership, Command ships L5, the whole works) I'd rather just give someone the account than have to shell out $20 to sell it to someone for ISK.
Anyone with clarification on that? -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

I'm selling my other character (and possibly Dodiez' stuff) because the 50 billion I'm raising here probably isn't going to be adequate to officer fit a Golem if I'm including Estamel's Modified Invulnerability Fields on it, so I'm trying to pad my purchasing power. Those cost about 15 billion ISK, and buying two of them on a budget of just 50 billion would leave me 20 billion to do everything else.
Look me up when you're free - for the time being, I've sent in a petition asking to activate my second account for a day so that I can stick a plex on it. it appears that I can't even get a limited API key for an inactive account so that I can see what it has trained on it. >< -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Sure; if my IPO fills up before then, I'll either discuss with you refunding it, or re-examine how plausible it would be to include it. I chose 50 billion vs 150 billion in assets because even if the market for ludicrously rare and expensive stuff tanks and for some reason a Chelm's Modified Cap Recharger for example only worth 5 billion, I'll still be able to cover 150 billion.
I haven't taken into account my wife's assets or either of our second accounts for this, which I will need to - we talked today, and she said that she's done. :( Done as in, not playing anymore, even for the next few months. I think I explained this elsewhere, but that's part of the reason I'm leaving; she doesn't want to play Eve anymore, and we're a team.

Ah, I see.
If you weren't aware, the alliance tournament is going on right now. At the conclusion of it, some lucky winners will be awarded unique ships. I'm not sure that Entity wants me disclosing his finances, so I won't, but he's saving his ISK to purchase the ships coming out of the alliance championship.
As for my own progenitors...I've inquired around (I had hoped on making this a solo venture with a silent partner), but ISK is tight right now because of projects that people are working on. I could wait (and have been offered a variety of things in a matter of weeks and months) but I'm impatient, and always have been.
I've never made an IPO before, I've always had more than enough ISK to buy everything in Eve twice (before I left the first time) and never needed anyones' help with anything. In fact, all my community involvement has always been me giving away ISK. A billion ISk to write some song lyrics, a billion ISK to find a karaoke backtrack, a billion ISK radio donation, 10 billion ISK to fund a contest, stuff like that - so thought I'd try something new. Anyway, thanks for posting. :) -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Eve appears to have crashed; I relogged and I'm in the queue. I've got to head to bed, but I'll see about sorting this out in the morning.
The 8 billion should fill out the 8 billion left open, and the 4 billion should put me at 49-51 billion depending on the reserved people.
Took 24 hours to raise 50 billion, I appreciate the support folks! Now find your friends with the officer mods I need and get them to sell them to me. =)
In the grand scheme of things, I'm not sure how buying the Golem's shield fittings are going to go - I know how expensive Estamel's fittings are, and if I could get a petition answered to reactive my account, I could start liquidating other characters (3 total between Dodiez and myself, not including Curzon). I'm slightly worried about whether 50 billion will cover pimping a Golem and a paladin, but I'd like to think that I'll get quite a bit from selling the alts.
I'm tempted to say that I'd be willing to extend my offer a bit higher, but I'm hesitant - I know I can cover 150 billion easily (guardian vexor + My vindicator and fittings + kronos and fittings) + the 50 billion I just raised is 150 billion, and that leaves an officer fitted dominix, an officer fitted scorpion, a very fat faction fit Hyperion, Abaddon, best faction fit Myrmidon, freighter, faction fit Arazu, my precious lachesis, a bunch of other tech2 fitted ships...a large container full of faction and officer mods that I don't know the value of anymore (Hakim's Modified Webber anyone? Are officer NOS still worth anything?), and a bunch of station containers full of libraries of tech1 and tech2 gear (not to mention my BPOs), and I still need to liquidate the characters aside from Curzon.
I suppose I'll leave that one up to you folks, the investors. I want to make sure I get estamel's on the Golem, and realize my budget here is stretched. =p I'm not really worried about not being able to cover it, but I'd probably have to sit down with someone who knows the prices of things (not an officer gear reseller you turds who want to sell me things for far more than they're worth) and see exactly what I can cover.
At this point, I'd say use your own judgement; if I'm beyond my means, I'll issue refunds beyond the 50 billion mark and post a cease and desist.

If I have more than that when I come back, I will send it back (outside my comfort zone), and if I raise nothing, then I'll sell a couple things to buy at least one, as distasteful as that is. Any investment in that category still falls into the payout boundaries for my IPO.

Hey folks!
Moved into the new house (not unpacked yet) but have the laptop (no Eve) up to at least make a post. Presuming that there was 10 billion ISK invested here (can't get into Eve to check right now), I'll get you guys into my spreadsheet; I'm only willing to take 10 more beyond that, so if you want to participate, hop in.
If I get more than 10 more, unfortunately, I'll be sending it back - once desks get unpacked and set up, and computers get on them, I'll get a formal update. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

For those of you who care and are awaiting eventual fittings / screenshots - I have buy orders open on contracts for certain modules, and acquired an Estamel's Modified Invulnerability Field this evening from someone who got a lucky drop!

I refunded some ISK today - had one person tell me that they needed to buy plexes, and another that they had lost their dreadnought and needed to replace it.
Kind of disappointing, but I'll roll with it. I have buy orders up for some officer mods (Chelm/Draclira Cap Rechargers / EANMs) and just sent out a bunch of mails to find out if anyone knows where any Chelm or Draclira Modified Tachyon Beam lasers can be found. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Update for those who care: I've gotten a Paladin and about half the fittings for my Paladin and my Golem to date. I haven't sorted out complete fittings yet; I was hoping for Chelm Tachyons, but they seem to be too rare to feasibly do within my time limit; even Entity doesn't have a set. :(
I haven't considered missile launchers on the Golem yet either; CPU is always the issue, and I haven't had a chance to EFT warrior around and see what I can come up with yet. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

I had announced a secondary window in order to cover another Estamel's Modified Invulnerability Field. 50 billion doesn't go very far when you're talking about mods that cost ~20 billion ISK. I'm not going to gimp my ability to pimp a Paladin and a Golem for a single mod though, so put the secondary offering out there. I sat down and talked with Entity and its an easy matter to cover it (*ahem* For example, when I bought my guardian vexors three years ago they were 4 billion....and they are now apparently 25 billion....).
I've put it out there, but haven't really had any interest expressed. I can readily cover it if someone wants it, and will gladly put another Estamel's Modified Invul Field on my Golem. Whether I get it or not is up to you, the investors. :) -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

I thought I did. ><
*blinks blearily*
As for video, I've never used fraps before, and am not sure its worth sorting it out for this, but I can certainly put fitting link work in progresses into my bio. Here's what I have so far:
Paladin: I have a thread over in ships and modules about Officer Tachyons and Faction ammo vs Tech2 Tachyons and Tech2 ammmo (Aurora) and which actually kicks more ass for missions. I don't have a clear answer. >< For everything but lasers apparently its a clear cut win for officer gear. Compounding that issue is a distinct lack of Officer Tachyons to even try it out. Entity doesn't have even a Marauder set of Chelm/Draclira Tachyons, and I went through Eve-search and sent an Evemail to everyone who may have bought or sold one or the other in the last two years. The end result was exactly one guy with a Draclira's Tachyon asking for 4 billion ISK. I told him I'd consider 4 billion ISK if he had 4 of them to offer me at the same time; while I'd pay for convenience I'm not paying him 4 billion ISK so that the next person who gets one can tell me that they want 5 billion for it. I may end up having to put Tech2 on it anyway.
I've got 2x Chelm's Modified Cap Rechargers for it, and I purchased 2x Meta 14 Heat sinks. My Kronos fitting/tank calls for 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizers + 5 slots of tank, so I'm planning on probably giving the Paladin the same allowances. I acquired both the 2x Heat sinks and a Cormack's Modified Sensor Booster (Meta 14) with the help of someone who shall remain anonymous for now (although he knows how awesome he is).
Also, since everyone says that a Paladin melts battleships at range incredibly fast, I'm pondering trying 3x heat sinks and a 4 slot tank, 2-3 of them being Meta 14 EANMs and a LAR. I was in negotiation for a LAR over in the sell formums; Zarazaa(?) has a thread with 2 pages of officer and faction mods for sale. I purchased their Estamel's Modified Large Shield Booster for a mint, but everything else (including Meta 14 hardeners and the LAR) seem to be significantly overpriced.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Golem: I haven't fiddled with this too much yet because I need to EFT warrior this out, and I haven't priced out missile launchers yet. I have an Estamel's modified invulnerability field, and need to see how this thread plays out for allowing a second one. I bought an Estamel's Modified Large Shield Booster yesterday, and intend to stick a Pith X-Type Shield Boost Amplifier in there. There may be a Meta 14 Cap recharger that goes into the mid slots depending on how the mid-slot battle plays out with my efforts to get another Invul Field. I haven't considered missiles yet (obviously going to be cruise launchers), but I don't know what kind, or what I'm going to be able to afford (depending on how this pans out).
As for lowslots, a couple of PDS and a couple of BCUs are in the day, but I haven't EFT warriored those yet. I'm nearing completion on the Paladin and am focused more on that at the moment. I've been in constant chat with officer mod resellers, along with my own WTB thread and trolling eve-search and people who may have at one time owned one of anything I'm looking for. Stubbornness is starting to set in, and if I have to liquidate something to finish my fittings, I'll probably try selling one of my guardian-vexors. I only have one fit out (and yes, I fly ALL my ships, with precautions of course); I've had someone convo me about buying one anyway, and will see where that goes.
In the meantime, I appear to have run out of characters. >< Everyone, please spam your alliance chat, alliance mail, everything; point them here or to my WTB thread in my first post. See if anyone has some of the shinies I'm after! :) Finder's fees will be assessed.

1. I've answered this in my first post.
2. I don't. I was responding to someone in an earlier post who said I should sell a vexor for 40 billlion since a 25 billion buyout was met almost immediately on the last sale of one. I actually thought these were worth 5 billion (bought mine for 3, 3.7, and 4 billion respectively back in 2006), and had valued them as such for this IPO. I'm happy to call them 25 billion; although if a buyout for 25 goes so quickly, I'm sure they're worth at least 30 billion.
And Paul...Curzon goes out in a blaze of glory stealing 50 billion ISK and declares himself the best scammer ever! *scoffs* While I do have a flair for liking attention (thus parodies, contests, events, even this IPO) pillaging 50 billion ISK from the Eve community would be rather anti-climatic.
*shrugs* You're not the first person to show up in a thread I made about an event, contest, ISK-making opportunity and scream that its all going to go south one day and they can't wait to shout "I TOLD YOU SO!" I'm leaving Eve because I feel like there's nothing to do. I've done it all. Most of the activities in Eve revolve around generating ISK. The rest around killing other people. One day you've earned a lot of ISK, bought all the shiny toys, flew them, PvPed in them, and you realize that the only thing left to do that has any purpose is to PvP because there's no point doing any of the ISK generating stuff.
And then while you're working on the PvP angle, you realize that PvP simply isn't fun. After years of "carebearing" it turns out that the PvPers of Eve are even bigger carebears, even more afraid of losing their pixels and digital ships than highsec people.
And then you cajole people into PvPing, offering ludicrous sums of ISK for evenly matched fights just to get some kicks.
And after that, you realize you've done so much work just to have a little bit of fun that its all pointless. So then you start looking for other ways to be entertained. For me, that was in holding contests, writing and singing parodies, and becoming involved in Eve Radio. That kept me going for another year or so.
And in late 2007 or so, I just didn't feel like logging in anymore. I came back a few months ago because I had previously paid billions of ISK in contest prizes for lyrics and stuff, and felt like I was cheating myself not to make a couple more parodies. Which I've done. And now what? My wife (Dodiez) who is herself an avid gamer hates this game because she finds it irrevocably boring, and all I really do is log in and chat anymore anyway.
I can't say that I "won" Eve because there is no winning, but there comes a point when you have to ask "What's the point?"
Don't mean to get anyone else down; Eve is a great game for what its worth. For me, there's just no point to it. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Thanks. :)
One of my friends got me into Eve Online because he told me it was a combination of the market that Everquest wished it was and the PvP that WoW wanted to be.
I was sold. :)
I'm not headed to another MMO...I went from Netdragson (MUD) to Gemstone 3 to Ultima Online to Asheron's Call 2 (best MMO ever made) to Lineage 2 to Everquest 2 to WoW (briefly) to Eve. I was fantastically rich in every one of them...its just what I do well; trading, selling, showmanship.
Since I started Eve until now I've gotten *feels like significantly* older, I've gotten married, bought a house, retired from the military, gotten a second career...needs change. When I was a child, I swore I'd never stop watching cartoons. I don't remember when it happened, but eventually it did. As a teenager I swore I'd never abandon video games, but I find myself playing them less and less.
Its life. :)
I left Eve once before, and came back because I missed making songs about it. I didn't miss the game; having been back a month or so now, I still don't miss anything about the game. I've always been a big fan of helping people, doing events, being part of the community...this is my last gasp. My last big thing. :) Giving away all my stuff.
I can't tell you how many times over the years people have asked me for ISK, or my stuff, or just a tiny billion, or any small charity; the people I've inevitably given ISK to were new(er) players and usually in my NPC corp. Sad to see that NPC corps are getting nerfed with a corp tax; a lot of the folks I've known in DCMI for years are either leaving the corp to make small corps of their own, or leaving Eve.
In fact, that's a perfect opportunity to link this precise expression of feeling towards CCP: Major Whinage.

As I've explained to you in person and in game, I haven't been collecting ISK to sit on it, I've been wildly spending it as you can see for yourself. I've refunded a few other folks while I had ISK waiting to be spent, but refunding you requires someone else step in and fill the gap.
For those of you who posted after my last post, I have another refund to process (Thormoz), which will require someone else (or parties) to step in and fill the gap to the tune of about 5 billion ISK.

I love EVE, even though I've never had as much fun in EVE as I had in SWG, but seems like EVE will be a very complete gaming experience... someday.
You can always come back and start from scratch, that could be a new challenge for you.
I'm looking forward to having a faction Dominix; I whined for one of those for 4 years. And if I haven't communicated this very well, I'm not leaving Eve to go find another MMO, I'm leaving MMOs. Life moves on and I just don't feel the pull to grind and quest and PvP anymore. Not in any MMO.
My wife and I play Warhammer 40k (the tabletop miniature game, not the video game), and I think that's kind of replaced my MMO time, although I don't get to play 40k very often either. If anyone is nerdy enough to know what that is, I have a Tau army and have started Dark Eldar, and my wife has a massive Ork army.

I don't know any of those people. While I've been around a long time and been a central part of a lot of things, I never really made any friends. I've got a few acquaintances, but that's about it. I tried actually joining a corp a few times, but it was never anything like I was hoping it would be. I've been happy to sit in DCMI and meet a changing crowd of people with a few regular faces.
As for rare stuff....ISK buys rare stuff. Entity might stuff all this into a hangar where its never seen again, but a fair number of people will get paid well for participating in my IPO. And that ISK will buy rare stuff. :)
I see it like this: If you want rare stuff, you should participate in my IPO. Entity *really* only cares about having one of everything; the rest is just fun. You can probably negotiate with him to get an officer mod(s) of value to what your payment should be if you prefer it that way. And if you can't afford to participate in my IPO because you spend all your ISK PvPing, then giving you an officer fit ship would doubtlessly follow the same route as all the other ships you need all that ISK to replace.
I have PvPed in these expensive ships. :) Mostly in 1v1 settings, where the odds are stacked in my favor, but I've sat at a few gatecamps in Tama tanking sentry guns in a Dominix with 4x Chelm's Modified Cap Rechargers on it that are powering my armor reppers and neutralizers. =p

Quick update:
In case you missed it, bit of drama to add to this thread, which was already dramatic. ><
ThormozOK invested 10 billion ISK into my IPO, and asked if when I left Eve if he could have my alt (Aruik) instead of an IPO payout if I still had him. I agreed, and put him into my spreadsheet with the caveat (wants Aruik). Last week, the Aruik sale thread I let die got bumped, bid on repeatedly, and given that the bidding went higher than what ThormozOK had entered into my IPO, I sold Aruik.
You haven't seen me bringing up my secondary offering (to get that second Estamel's invul field) because I used Aruik's sale and Thormoz's investment to buy it.
Now, ThormozOK and I have been going around and around the last few days. He wants a refund because he isn't going to get Aruik. We discussed the fact that having almost completely fit my ships, I'm pretty much out of ISK (two more modules to completion on both Golem and Paladin). Regardless of the fact that I haven't been holding onto ISK, or that he wasn't expecting a return on his ISK until next year...he's adamant that he wants a refund.
I've been working on it. I raised 5 billion of his ISK in short order, and Neon Fury was supposed to cover down on the rest, but hasn't logged in for the last few days. I've refunded ISK several times now because people have needed it for other things (while I had it - no reason not to). Someone else just asked me for a 1 billion ISK refund, and I asked them to post that here sot hat other people wouldn't think I was making up that some folks had asked for refunds; and that his refund is dependent on someone else covering it (because I've spent my IPO as intended). But ThormozOK...has been unpleasant to work with through this ordeal. And now I have an ultimatum from him that if I don't have his ISK tomorrow he's going to announce to the world that I'm a scammer.
I'm honestly tempted to give him the finger at this point because of his interaction with me and keep his ISK, but I bounced the idea off Hemmo, who told me it would be a poor idea, even if deserved, and would probably cause other people to ask for refunds, which I don't really have to give.
So at the very least, this post is to pre-empt Thromoz posting to defame me. Its also to give an update on where I am with my IPO. And while I *think* evil thoughts when people are unpleasant with me, I honestly would feel really dumb even perpetrating a mini-scam, whether someone deserves it or not. So Thormoz...as angry as you want to get, I still feel obligated to treat you fairly like an underpaid customer support representative. You *will* get a refund, and you *will* get it when Neon Fury or someone else covers down on ISK I don't have to give back to you. You were promised results next September at the latest, and it wouldn't hurt for you to be a bit more appreciative that I'm doing my best here.
Anyway, back to you Chuck, how's the weather down in San Diego? *camera pans over* -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

That's correct. ThormozOK's introductory line was, "I know this probably isn't enough to buy Aruik but..." I included him in my IPO, and stopped reply/bumping my character sale thread because I didn't care one way or the other who ended up with the character from my second account.
As far as the finger....like I said - I'll sit and brew about someone being a jerk to me, and venting here and telling other people that he's a jerk makes me feel better. =p It won't change the fact that he'll get his money back, just like daydreaming that the guy who just cut you off violently in traffic blows a tire, flips over several times off a cliff and explodes in midair doesn't make that happen either. Its called wishful thinking and aggression management. =p

Between you and Thorexian, I'm 6 billion down from requested refunds, and you can bet that as soon as someone says, "I'll put in a billion" that number will change to 5 billion. It has most of this thread except when I've been gone.
Watch along with me, but stop thinking I'm magically holding onto ISK; I raised it to spend, and spend I have. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Thormoz, at least post a thanks. =p

I haven't done the exact math, but I think roughly half of my IPO has been refunded and then invested in by other people. I should have noted a disclaimer that I'd charge a 10% processing fee for refunds. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Given that I just refunded 10 billion ISK, and had previously refunded other folks (and General Wiggles is torn between a refund so that he can buy ships apparently) I had thought the "scam!" kiddies might die down a bit.
Entity and I were just talking about that last night, and the hint of drama in the thread. I'd been told that if I thought the ******s would go away because I was giving money back, I was wrong - it would inflame them twice as much because you guys think differently than normal people.

Originally by: The Punished You know I'm pretty skeptical of everybody and I made a lot of silly comments in Curzon's I'm a cop and I can reach out an touch you and lock up your whole family or worse thread, but the more I pay attention to Curzon I would have to say he seems to be a pretty stand up guy, albeit that last issue with the character... I was divided on my opinion because I am not sure I had all the facts straight, but it seemed like he went for cash now instead of keeping up his end of the deal. Anyways since I'll probably never have the straight facts I'll drop it but right now I'm liking Curzon, no Homo
Well, ThormozOK isn't a native English speaker - I'm not quite sure we'll ever get the facts straight. He thought we had one agreement, and I thought we had another agreement. If I had known he just straight wanted to buy Aruik, I would have let the bidding end, then told him that he had until I left Eve to beat that price....I would have ended up with more ISK that way. Instead, I thought he wanted his ISK in my IPO, and if no one paid more than his 10 billion, he wanted Aruik for payment instead.
Poor communication, I probably didn't get as much ISK as I could have for it, but at least Thormoz is back to where he started and Aruik's new owner is happy.
Now I just need an "overflow buffer" of investments - I have one outstanding refund request and one....asking if he can get a refund now so that he can use it to make ISK right now, then invest later (to which I've told him that for him to get a refund someone else will have to pay for his investment, and it will be closed).
Also, time-stamping right NOW: If I have to process any more refund requests (IPO is currently full, but has two requests for refunds) then I am going to assess a 25% administrative fee on your refund. At least half my IPO has been refunded and invested in by other people at this point, and there's been a lot of unnecessary work.

Originally by: ginlaan As far as the people who wanted refunds: They were all hoping you would only keep playing for a little while longer and were banking on you quitting right away to get there investment. Of course no one can prove that, but if could prove what ones thoughts were i am quite certain a few of the people who invested where banking on a quick turnaround and seeing its not going happen now want there isk back.
Eh....except that I announced from day 1 that the IPO would pay out on September 01, 2010; earlier if folks are lucky. I have my private feelings about when this will be, and its nowhere near a year from now...but I've never hinted at that or promised anything other...I can't imagine why anyone would think otherwise. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

After some experimenting tonight, I've discovered that you can't really link ship fittings into your bio. Don't know what the problem is with links in the bios. :(
I have my junk though, and would be happy to link them into a mail for anyone who sends me an EVEmail asking for them. I'm pretty much broke now though, so add me to your friends' list so I don't pay CSPA charges. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Hey folks!
I posted my Golem Fitting for advice, and have been quite scoffed at. :(
Apparently I'm supposed to be using torps instead of cruise launchers. I'll explore selling the cruise launchers to replace them with torps; there are a set of four for sale for 6.4 billion ISK right now (I think he's asking too much), especially given that one of the other sellers is willing to sell one for 1.25 billion.
If anyone is willing to help me get Estamel's Modified Siege Launchers, get in touch with me; we can work something out. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Edited by: Curzon Dax on 20/12/2009 14:20:46 Yes, still leaving Eve. Yes, payout is still in order.
I haven't been online lately because there's a bitter fight with CCP over billing issues; I haven't paid for Eve in a long time because of time cards, and Eve used to get paid for with an account that's not active anymore, and CCP auto-charged / renewed a defunct account without authorization, leading to overdraft charges on a bank account that was closed, and the charges can't be disputed because the account is closed (although it apparently wasn't at the time) and I never found out about it for ages because I stopped using that bank....no one called / e-mailed / nothing.
Then I got a letter in the mail that I'd been sent to collectors for this ridiculous sum of over-drawn / drafted fees attached to an attempted $14.99 subscription charge, and CCP's responses are form letter "Sorry, not our fault can't do anything to help"
Seriously getting irritated. Account is active right now, which is saying a lot, but this passed the point of ridiculous two weeks ago. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Indeed, it was 374,405,000,000. It happened in three phases.
Phase 1: I solicited 50 billion ISK to fund a Paladin and a Golem. I actually got all those funds incredibly quickly; in a couple of days.
Phase 2: A couple of folks had been asking for their ISK back because they needed them for time cards, and it gave me the idea that I could create a gap in my fund from people needing ISK back. I got a lot more ISK from people who thought that they were shoring up the missing gap in 50 billion ISK, but were in actuality contributing to its growth.
Phase 3: When this petered out, and I was starting to feel guilty / paranoid about people asking for refunds...and worried that someone might make a damning post (like adding up number of investors who posted, let alone those who didn't), I cut it off. From here, I started approaching people individually; asking them to privately fund 20 billion ISK to cover the cost of a third Estamel's Modified Invulnerability Field in exchange for my Meta14-fitted Golem when I left Eve. I moved the date of payment up to Christmas (yesterday), to provide incentive and let greed do its work.
I got 15-20 billion ISK each from a *lot* of people who thought that they were going to get a Meta14 fit Paladin, or Golem, or Vindicator for Christmas.

I actually gave away most of the ISK, not some of it. Not that it makes me Robin Hood - I still have about 250 billion ISK worth of Meta 14 modules. I didn't do it for fame or fortune...that's a misnomer for you who think so - I've already been famous. Eve Radio, Eve-TV, EON Magazine...I've had my fifteen minutes of fame more than once and enjoyed it.
I did this because I hadn't done it before.
In answer to the question why none of my individual investors posted, it was because I had an announced payout date of Sept. 2010. I told each individual investor that they were privvy to a secret; that I was planning on paying out my IPO on Christmas instead (IE, in a month or two from when we talked), and that I would avail them to helping my IPO in exchange for their promise not to tell anyone that I was paying out sooner, or that I was looking for additional cash. IE, social engineering.
I can't speak for Yih, and haven't followed the forums for a long time so I don't know what he did - but the social engineering shirt/sticker is a trademark of jinx.com - you can buy all sorts of cool T-shirts and stuff there. I got it along with a "I am the Fed" T-shirt at Defcon 2005, where I was the keynote on...social engineering. :) The most memorable part of it was actually winning $6,000 at the Hard Rock casino Thurs-Saturday, and losing it all on Sunday. >< -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Originally by: Kapila Parthalan In this case, Curzon didn't really have a rep as an investee.
That's correct. I didn't have a business plan. I didn't shoot anyone down as a troll who wanted me to lay out a business plan - I said that there is no business plan. I was simply going to spend their ISK on fancy Meta14 gear, and when I left Eve, Entity was going to reward their investments triple.
I didn't need a business plan to create ISK to pay interest or principle back because I was mega-wealthy and the idea of me stealing 50 billion ISK ws ludicrous. And to be honest...the idea that I would steal 50 billion ISK *is* ludicrous. 400 billion...that's worth it.
The reputation that I worked very hard to create wasn't of a sound businessman and trader, although I rightfully have some of that; I've creates some sound empires and made people fantastically rich from my work. The reputation I was trying to create was of an ultra-rich playboy. I gave away billions upon billions of ISK through forum contests (out of pod), hosted lotteries on Eve Radio, donated billions more through Eve Radio contests...
A lot of my wealth actually came from Eve Radio lotteries back in the day. I'd sink 10 billion ISK into lottery tickets where everyone else combined had 1 billion ISK. Not a perfect system, but it worked well. I sunk 50 billion ISK to win 5 billion ISK. Why not? Make 5 billion ISK for no work?
Point being - that was the reputation I was after. So when I started this IPO, it was a matter of "Why would I ever steal 50 billion ISK?" And the honest answer is, "I wouldn't." Selling officer mods *IS* a time-consuming and wrenching process. I don't ever want to have to do it again.
And I *did* give away 1/3 of what I stole in Dodixie. This is the first criminal act I've ever done in any game ever, and some of the heart-wrenching posts have actually made me return ISK to people. Then again, I've gotten a bunch of "I hope you die" stuff too. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

And a final announcement - I'm retiring from Eve today.
Giving away all my stuff, settling my accounts, giving back more ISK and stuff to people who invested it in me, and calling it quits. This will be my last post on the forums ever.
Good luck Eve Online; its been a fun ride (parts of it), and I'll miss some of you.
On a sidenote, I've been giving refunds to pretty much anyone who asked for them - Spectre Wraith just scammed me out of 6 billion ISK. *laughing* He said that he was going to die and couldn't afford GTCs without that 5 billion ISK, and his corp blah blah blah...so I gave him 6 billion ISK so he'd have a billion in profit too, and it turns out that he only invested a billion ISK with me.
Well played. :) -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |
